Why do we insist on wearing analogue watches in an age of digital technology? The digital devices that we surround ourselves with on a daily basis all show what time it is in a precise manner. Moreover, they enable us to check what time it is in different timezones and for example plan webconferences accordingly, so why do we hold on to our analogue watches?
In this short video from one of my keynotes, I argue that we wear analogue watches because of emotional reasons. Digital devices and apps enable us to make rational and smart decisions based on data in real-time - our rational minds are being digitised. Nonetheless, we need to keep in mind that our hearts remain enduringly analogue and irrational. So the question for business leaders around the world is: how do you seamlessly weave together the analogue and physical world with the digital future?
